The little Burdekin ducks (min-rrakáyvl) can be seen wandering through the reeds eating and nesting. These aquatic birds live and feed in shallow, brackish waters. They swing their beak from side to side and sieve their food through their beaks, they primarily feed on aquatic plants, insects, molluscs, and snails. They are particularly common around the mangrove flats and paperbark swamps in our homelands. One of my favourite birds they have inspired this artwork.
