The two long-necked turtle sisters, one facing to the north, one to the south, met one another and had babies. They live in the billabongs and swamps. The black colour represents the mud they eat. The yellow is their fat; the white is the cloud; the red is the land. The flower is wakwak (waterlilies), which they also eat, as well as the roots beneath the water. Wakwak is their shelter, where they keep safe, and can maintain their temperature. When it’s dry, when the billabong is dry, they duck down beneath the ground, just leaving their nostrils so they can breathe.
