Michael Mungula is one of the many sons and daughters of of renowned Gupapuyngu artist and cultural leader Djawa. Mungala sings the Walamungu Manakay, the traditional songs by owners of Milingimbi, that belong to his Mari (mother’s grandfather) and is one of two people who are still able to do so. He works for the Crocodile Island Rangers and dedicated to cultural maintenance and its passing to younger generations.
