Daniel Palmer Kmgwarrye

Karungkarni Art And Culture

Daniel Palmer Kmgwarrye is an Eastern Arrernte man who was born in 1970 in the remote town of Santa Teresa, to the southeast of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Australia. He met his wife, a Gurindji woman, and later they moved to Kalkarindji, where they still live with their family.

Daniel learned about his Country, Ulpmerre, by listening to stories told by his mother and his brothers. Although his mother was not an artist, he learned how to describe his Country and all the important sites for that Country. In recent years, Daniel gained an interest in art as he watched his wife and her aunt painting their Gurindji/Malngin Country and the Dreaming stories for that Country. Both Daniel and his wife are passionate artists and supporters of the Art Centre, however, as Daniel is training to be an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, he can only paint in his spare time and on weekends.
