In this painting, the artist depicts the Waru Tjukurrpa (Fire Dreaming) at Watarru. Watarru is located in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (APY Lands) in the north west of South Australia close to Kanpi, Piplitjara, Maralinga and Ochre Valley. This Tjukurrpa is from the artist’s own country at Watarru.
The Tjukurrpa tells of two Tjangala travelling from Yuendumu, Northern Territory, down South to Watarru, carrying the fire with them. Once they arrived at Watarru, they threw the fire stick on the ground and created a big hole and mountain. The two Tjangalas created everything at Watarru, afterwards they went back to Yuendumu. This is part of a big Tjukurrpa from Yuendumu, called Warlukurlangu.
The two Tjangalas left many Ngangkari (traditional healer) spirits in this place, which all the children hold. The artist often depicts these children sitting down on country with their mothers, surrounded by puli puli (rocks) and kapi (rock holes).

Our prices are inclusive of freight & handling costs. As a remote Art Centre staff take great care in packing each item properly to ensure safe travels on the 230 km drive to the closest post office / courier office. All paintings are shipped unstretched, unless otherwise stated in the materials section as ‘Pre-Stretched’. Pre-stretching of larger canvas must be organised and paid for in advance. For International orders, a staff member will get in contact for additional shipping costs after your order is placed. Below are estimated pricing, we ship with Startrack.

Delivery Times
Due to Australian wide shipping delays, and the possibility of bad weather on local roads at all times of the year, delivery times may take longer than usual. Every effort is made to dispatch artworks as quickly as possible, but specific delivery times cannot be guaranteed. Please keep in mind that you are purchasing something from a remote community. Online orders will be sent after the event closes and will most likely not arrive before Christmas.
Please clearly nominate a delivery address, phone number and name for your delivery so we can easily get in-touch should a rare issue occur.
All items are posted using Startrack or Australia Post unless other delivery arrangements are made with the Art Centre. You will receive an email with your tracking number and order details once it has been posted.

Please also note that for handmade items such as fabrics and t-shirts, slight variations should be expected. Much care and time is taken when arranging photographs of artworks for the website and we do our best to assure that they are true to colour and form. Ikuntji Artists are not responsible for misrepresentations of images on personal devices.
Please be aware when purchasing clothing, we do not offer a refund for change of mind. Ikuntji can offer an exchange or store credit for incorrect sizing however we are not able to offer refunds or reimbursements for any postage costs including the return of the item.

Items customers wish to purchase may require a manual quote for freight which will be charged separately.
- Shipping and freight costs are not included in the advertised purchase price unless this is stipulated at the point of purchase of the item by the Art Centre/Participant/Vendor.
- If shipping and freight costs are not stipulated at point of purchase, all shipping and freight costs must be arranged directly with the Art Centre/Participant/Vendor from where the purchase was made.
