Xena Wilson

Born in Darwin in 2001 emerging artist Xena Wilson paints “dot dot” [Durrmu] under the leadership of her grandmother Regina Pilawuk Wilson. In 2019 Xena accompanied her grandmother on an international art exchange to Sicily Italy, inspired by her time on the largest Mediterranean island Xena grounds her work in Durrmu (traditional body paint design).

Xena works as a night patrol officer with her aunt Annunciata ‘Nunuk’ Wilson keeping Peppimenarti and has been an asset to Durrmu Arts’ initiative ‘Ngarrim’birrfemityatit’. Instructing her young cousins to learn weaving practice, Xena’s patient and warm nature has supported the young girls to learn effectively.
