“I always saw my grandma make some weaving, some basket. I get skill from my grandmother. When after my grandmother pass away I keep it in my mind.”
Shirley has extended her practice to incorporate ghost net weaving, Macramé and jewelry making with shells and seeds. She also started bush dyeing in 2021. Yantarrnga country is Emirreba (Eight Mile), near Umbakumba on Groote Eylandt.
