Natasha Davui

UMI Arts

Davui presents intricate designs associated with her Indigenous and non-Indigenous heritage that have influenced her values, behaviour and attitudes. She is a descendant of the Gunggari people of the Maranoa River region in South West Queensland, and the Djabugay people with traditional homelands that stretch across the mountains, gorges and forests of the Barron River region in Far North Queensland. In 2018 Davui became a designing artist for scarves with the ‘Mainie Australia’ brand. The Thancoupie Bursary Award she received in 2019 enabled Davui to expand her skills and she undertook work with Crystalbrook Collection Hotel and Residence producing a collection that included artwork on a baby grand piano for their ‘Bailey’ hotel titled ‘Reef to Rainforest and Beyond’ that celebrates the vibrant colours, beauty and landscapes of Cairns.
