Nagula Jarndu Designs

Martha Lee is a Yawuru and Karrajarri woman from Broome in the Kimberley. In 2005 she started doing art at Nagula Jarndu Designs where her love for art began.
She is one of Nagula Jarndu’s more senior artists and also works at Mabu Ngan-ga Language Resource Centre as an Artist and Illustrator for children’s books and resources for the Yawuru Language Centre.
Her passion is learning Yawuru language and producing artwork for children’s books, textiles and commissions including Public Art. Martha’s art designs focus is on land, sea, country, kinship and Dreamtime stories. Martha’s personal art practice and experience is extremely varied and always with a strong sense of pattern and colour sourced from the Kimberley landscape and traditional stories. She has successfully produced 3D works for public art commissions, paintings and currently focuses on various printing techniques including block printing and lino printing on paper and fabric.
