Marie Cecilia Manado

Marie is a descendant of the Yawuru, Nimanburr and Jabir Jabir tribes in the Broome and Dampier Peninsula located in North West Kimberley region.

She has a large family including extended family spread throughout the Kimberley. Her ancestral groups are all salt water peoples.

Marie has always been interested in art and as a child enjoyed being part of school art competitions. She continued to dabble through out her adult life on a personal basis at home. She joined Nagula Jarndu Art Centre in 2020 and has been able to explore hand block printing on material.

Marie’s art represents her cultural heritage, traditions and knowledge in contemporary form in print making.
