I do it all night, maybe until the morning. I don’t sleep, because I like making the baskets and Monster Fish so much. It is important for me for the future so I can show people my culture and how we still make baskets in different ways, both ways, the new ways and old ways.

In 2019, Maicie  participated in the Asialink  Arts residency program in Indonesia where she delivered workshops and developed new works , including her celebrated ‘ Yilkwa- Monster Fish’ . A large menacing fish  hand woven from marine debris, including ghost net, lighters and bottle tops,  this work  is currently on tour in the Artback exhibition “ Groundswell”’.  A series of her smaller Monster Fish have recently been acquired by the Museum de Havre in France.

Maicie’s  digital printed fabrics featuring her woven ‘Monsterfish’ made their debut on the catwalk in a special catwalk event at Anindilyakwa Arts for VIP guests  in August 2020, then  in Darwin and Melbourne for the 2020 ‘ From Country to Couture’ fashion shows.
