Gabriella Baxter

Gabriella is a Walmajarri woman, returning to country after studying Design at RMIT, Melbourne. She grew up on a farm on the Martuwarra (Fitzroy River) where her Ngamatji (Mother) would teach her how to catch kapi (fish). With a foot in both worlds, her father being from a Greek, Irish and Anglo background, Gabby has kept returning to Country and learning more from her family and community each time. She is particularly inspired by her Grandmother who was a famous artist that painted from her heart important parts of the Country she grew up on, The Great Sandy Desert.
