Daisybell Kulyuru

Iwiri Aboriginal Corporation

Daisybell Tjalumi Kulyuru was born in Ernabella in 1971. She started painting at Ernbella Arts with her mother who is now deceased, the artist Angkuna Kulyuru.

She has worked at Ernabella School as an Aboriginal Education Worker and now lives with her two children and travels between Adelaide and Ernabella.

Daisybell paints stories based on bush tucker, and traditional imagery. The traditional imagery she uses is referred to as Walka – Walka is any meaningful mark or pattern and may be an image on a cave wall, on rock or on sand and that has cultural and ritual significance. It is used on the body painting design during ceremony.

While she’s in Adelaide, Daisybell paints at Iwiri, continuing to develop and refine her own style.
