Barbara Milpati Baker

Iwiri Aboriginal Corporation

Barbara MilpaƟ Baker was born in Yalata SA in 1962. Her fathers country is Kunumata near Nyapari community. As he
travelled south to Yalata he met MilpaƟ’s mother; a woman from Tjuntjuntjara in Western Australia. As a young girl MilpaƟ
moved to Indulkana with her father and later went to Yirara College in Alice Springs to finish her educaƟon. MilpaƟ married
Anton Baker (Jimmy Bakers son) shortly aŌer and moved to Fregon where she helped to set up the Fregon craŌ room. In
the early eighƟes she moved with her family to Kanpi Community, close to her husband and father’s country.
Barbara’s paints Ngapari Tjukurpa from her grandmother’s country on the other side of Watarru in South Australia.
Barbara currently lives in Adelaide, South Australia and paints at Iwiri Wellbeing Space.
