About Andrea Fisher
Andrea Fisher belongs to the Birri Gubba, Goreng Goreng, and Wakka Wakka People, of Queensland.
Here you'll find a collection of artworks connected to country and place. For the Artist, depicting her country, place, and home is evident throughout her work. She encapsulates past, present, and future, conversations, with what home means to her.
Another element of her practice, incorporates use of totems (animals), connected to family, place, and community. Line markings, and dot work appear throughout her work, often with beautiful stories behind each work, taking the viewer closer to what Aboriginal spirit, represents for an Aboriginal woman.
Andrea is a proud Aboriginal person and Mother, and represents an emerging talent of contemporary Aboriginal Artists.
Highlights in her career have been travelling around parts of Australia (Gnia Yumba), home, country, place, connecting with other Aboriginal people. Also Andrea was invited to travel to New York, with her practice, further extending her voice and representation of her people. Though feels very much connected to where she comes from, knowing where I come from, and who I am.
Born in Brisbane (Meeanjin), and now living in Ipswich (Toolmur), Queensland.
